The North Zone workshop for developing quality monographs for Indian Pharmacopoeia on Herbs and Herbal Products was held in New Delhi on 27-28th November 2009.the workshop was sponsored by the National Medicinal Plants Board, Indian Pharmacopoeial Commission and organized by Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India Delhi state Branch. The venue of the workshop was DIPSAR, New Delhi. The principal objective of the workshop was to develop trained personnel for preparing herbal monographs. There were 84 participants from teaching institutions and pharmaceutical industries of North India. The speakers in the inaugural function were Dr.B.S.Sajwan,Chairman, NMPB Dr.D.B.A.Narayana, Head, Herbals Research, Hindustan Uniliver Research Center, Prof B.P.Srinivasan,Director,DIPSAR, Dr.P.D.Sethi, Shree V.K.Jain Additional Secretary,TTE,Govt of Delhi and Dr.Raman Singh of IPL, Dr. P.K.Sahoo, President APTI Delhi State Branch.

The speakers in the scientific session were Dr.D.B.A.Narayana (Head, Herbals Research, Hindustan Uniliver Research Center  also Chairman of Crude Drug & Herbal Products Committee of IPC), Dr. G. Trimurtulu (Vice-President, R&D Laila Impex R&D Centre,Vijayawada - 520 007), Dr. Amit Agarwal (Director – R&D,Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd.,Bangalore), Dr.Pulok Mukherjee  (Director, School of Natural Product Studies,Dept. of Pharmaceutical  Sciences, Jadhavpur University), Mr B. Murli (Senior Manager, Quality Control, Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd), Dr.G.S.Patani (Director, Inga Laboratories P. Ltd., Mumbai),  Dr.Raman M Singh (Principal Scientific Officer &Head, R&D,Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission). Dr. G.N.Singh, Chairman IPC attended the Valedictory function as a Chief Guest.
